Program Description

Foundations of Management (FoM), a certificate program which we offer through our partnership with the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM), provides essential knowledge and tools for new managers, supervisors, and team leads to aid the transition from employee to manager.  FoM’s fundamental management concepts and practices can be put to use in the workplace right away to help employees gain confidence in their new role. FoM is the product of a comprehensive Job Task Analysis study conducted by ICPM to identify the knowledge, skills and abilities new managers need to perform competently on-the-job.   

Foundations of Management consists of approximately 45 hours of learning that can be completed as individualized, self-directed study or as group, instructor-led learning.  Program materials consist of a custom-published study manual (in print or e-book format), access to ICPM’s e-Learning Center, and a 90-item comprehensive exam.  ICPM’s e-Learning Center includes multimedia resources and practice exams to reinforce learning.  Participants who successfully complete the coursework and pass the FoM exam receive an ICPM Certificate of Achievement.  FoM is a stepping stone to the Certified Manager certification, which provides worldwide recognition of managerial competency and leadership potential.
